Festival of running…
From Sunday 17th to Sunday 24th March 2019 the people of Coventry came out for the Festival of Running which included the Children’s Mile, Toddler Dash, 5k and Coventry Half Marathon. This year’s event was bigger and better as Coventry is the European City of Sport for 2019.
The children were up first on Sunday 17th March for the Children’s Mile. Over 2000 children and their parents descended on the War Memorial Park which was organised by the team from CV Life. All the children looked amazing in their different coloured t-shirts and it was great to see so many getting involved. JD from Free Radio entertained the crowds and Carl Baker (former Coventry City Football player) started the race. Lots of fun was had by all and all the children were very pleased with their medals at the end.
The following weekend it was the turn of the adults. Our very own Jo Brooks ran the Coventry Half with her husband Mick for Breast Cancer Care. Jo ran a brilliant race achieving a PB and raised x for a fantastic charity.
And then finally it was the new 5k race which saw #Covhour regulars Central Galaxy Trampoline Club entering a team of over 20 racers who were all raising much need funds for new equipment.
The Festival of Running was a fantastic way to celebrate Coventry being European City of Sport in 2019, well done to all involved.
